We’ve had cattle since shortly after we bought our place in 2009. We’ve had commercial cattle & longhorns over the years but on just 10 acres there’s not a ton of space for them, especially once we brought the big horses back. In late 2022 Michael ran into an acquaintance that offered him their herd of miniature beef cattle. We had looked at minis before & were intrigued because they need much less space than regular cattle & typically produce more meat per pound than most full sized cattle. We went to see the available herd & were pleasantly surprised to find out that they were true minis - like micro mini size, not just smaller framed cattle. We brought home 4 bred cows, a 2 year old heifer, & a 2022 bull calf. We plan to raise our own beef from this herd but hope to also have calves for sale each year.
