Our Poultry

Poultry has become one of the fastest-growing parts of Fallen Timbers Farm. From fresh eggs and hatchlings to heritage breeds and future breeding projects, our flocks continue to grow each season.

We raise chickens, ducks, quail, turkeys, and emus, with a mix of production birds and heritage breeds chosen for hardiness, temperament, and the unique role each species plays on the farm.

Fresh Eggs

Fresh eggs are available seasonally from several species, including chickens, ducks, quail, and turkeys. As our younger emus mature, we also hope to offer emu eggs in the future.

Egg colors, sizes, and availability change throughout the year based on the season and what our birds are producing.

Coturnix Quail

Jumbo Coturnix quail are an important part of our poultry program. In addition to hatching eggs and chicks, we also raise processed quail as part of our farm food program.

Our goal is to produce practical, sustainable poultry that serves both our farm and our local community.

Ducks, Turkeys & Emus

Our duck flock includes a variety of breeds and colors that spend their days foraging, splashing through muddy puddles, and adding plenty of personality to the farm.

We’re also growing a flock of heritage turkeys, including Blue Slate, Fall Fire, Sweetgrass, and colorful heritage crosses selected for their beauty, hardiness, and calm temperaments.

Our emu flock is made up of Maverick, Rooster, and Phoenix. Maverick serves as the flock’s watchful guardian, while the younger birds continue to mature alongside him. As they grow, we look forward to adding emu chicks to the farm in the years ahead.

Mixed Chicken Flock

We’ve got a mixed flock of hens & our roosters are either Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, or Dark Brown Layers. We sell eating eggs, hatching eggs, & chicks from our flock.

Jumbo Coturnix Quail

Our jumbo coturnix flock of about 30 adults keeps us stocked with eggs & meat. We sell eating eggs, hatching eggs, & chicks from our flock as well as processed quail when we have extra.

Ducks & Turkeys

Our ducks are a mixed flock of breeds but we do not have Muscovy ducks. We offer eating & hatching eggs & occasionally, ducklings. Our turkeys are a mix of heritage breeds & we will offer eating & hatching eggs as well as turkey poults.

Emus

Our first emus were an impulse buy honestly but I completely fell in love with these unique, dinosaur like birds. We’ve now got a 2 year old male named Maverick & recently added a female chick named Phoenix & an additional male chick named Rooster. We hope to have emu eggs & chicks in the future.
