About Our Rabbit Program

I’ve raised Holland Lop rabbits in northeast Oklahoma for more than 25 years. I got my first rabbit in 1996 and have had them ever since. Over that time, I’ve owned more than 30 breeds, and Hollands remain my favorite. They’re the smallest lop-eared breed — and the only dwarf lop — weighing between 2.5 and 4 pounds at maturity.

Hollands are known for their calm, friendly personalities and low-maintenance coats, especially compared to other small breeds such as Lionheads or Teddies, which require frequent grooming.

We focus on temperament above all else; every rabbit in our program has a sweet, gentle disposition. Occasionally, new mothers can be a bit protective of their babies — and that’s fine with us! We never fault a mom for doing her job.

While both bucks and does make wonderful pets, I personally find bucks a bit more affectionate. However, our does are every bit as sweet once they’ve raised their kits.

Becoming More Self-Sufficient

As our farm has grown and become more self-sufficient, we’ve expanded to include meat rabbits as part of our homestead. In spring 2025, we added dedicated meat lines to complement our Hollands. We initially planned to raise New Zealands, but after additional research, we chose to switch to Champagne d’Argents.

This is a working farm where animals are raised for both companionship and practical purpose. My mother has Alpha-gal syndrome, which means she cannot eat red meats such as beef, pork, or venison. Rabbit offers a nutritious, lean, and high-protein alternative, allowing us to diversify our family’s food options while raising animals responsibly and humanely.

Our breeding rabbits — pictured below — are spoiled, loved, and handled daily. While their babies may be raised for different purposes, all are treated with care and respect throughout their lives.

We plan to occasionally offer Champagne d’ Argent babies for sale, along with processed whole rabbit as we expand our farm offerings in the future.
